Aquaforest components vs calcium reactor

So I finally pulled the trigger on buying the aqua forest salt and excited to see if it lives up to the hype. In researching this I came across their component 1,2,3 system. Effectively balling method. Any one have any opinions on this vs a calcium reactor? I just invested a bunch into a new reactor last year and would hate to part with it but feel this component system would ultimately be superior in adding everything not just the ca, alk, mg that my reactor provides. Appreciate any input.

It is not necessary to change the reactor. You can use Aquaforest component ABC.They are made for calcium reactor owners or for owners of tanks with soft corals that don't need to dose lot of calcium , magnesium, Kh but needs to add some trace elements. ABC contains all trace elements that you will find in component 1,2,3 + but without Ca, Mg and Kh. You have packaging to use with dosing pumps or to add manually (from hands ) with smaller bottle.

It is not clear exactly what any company puts into a 2 or 3 part system, but it is not necessarily superior to a CaCO3/CO2 reactor.

There are also lots of commercial brands and my DIY 2 part system to consider if you want to go this option.

@bsstover I used the calcium reactor for a while and now I use component 1,2,3+ for more than 3 years. It is the balling method but "tuned" by Aquaforest. There is a third solution (Mineral Salt) to keep the ion balance. In each solution there are trace elements in the right proportion that most of the tanks needs. When you will use component 1,2,3 + there is not need to dose any trace elements. What is better (calcium reactor+ component ABC or component 1,2,3+) it is hard to say. I prefer 1,2,3+ for me it is more safe. I had many technical problems with calcium reactor that's why I have change. I know many people that use reactors. Some of them are very satisfied and have great results ...

Thanks for all the input. I was just concerned about using both and having an overdose of ca alk or mg. randy- I was actually using your two part prior to switching to a reactor. Thanks for all you do.

I use only component 1,2,3+ but we have a tank where there is reactor as a main source of Ca, Mg , Kh and precise dosage is made with the components. The results are great as well
