I have been using 1+2+3+ for a few weeks now. The other day (dont ask) my component 3+ got knocked over and spilled out in my basement. Can I just continue to use 1+2+ and supplement mag with some BRS magnesium until component 1 and 2 are gone without any issues?
No you cant if you are targeting to do full balling. component 3 is not only magnesium it also contain reef mineral salt which is a major component of balling system as its a NaCl free sea salt. It also contain the potassium so you will miss a lot of things altogether.

Hi Anirban,
Hoping to get some guidance from you. I have a 180 Gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. With water displacement and all, i have a total of 200 gallons. I have radion XR30 gen 2 lights. I had been using BRS 2 part and switched to AF balling method, I got the dry AF and made the solutions as per instructions along with component ABC and K.

Before I switched to AF, i messed around with my lights and lost some corals. Kh also went up as the consumption got reduced. Kh shot up to 11 and the corals that have survived started loosing color.

So I reset the lights back to SPS AB+ program and stopped dosing completely for a few days. This was the time i mixed my AF solutions and have them ready.

So right now I am dosing about 110 ml AF every day during the night time every hour. So now my kh sits at 7.2 and my daily consumption is about .3, so it varies from 6.9 - 7.2. With the lower Kh i see that the colors have improved.

My calcium is still high beyond 500, so waiting for the Ca to come down to start dosing again.

Should I just continue to dose kh for now and hold off on the calc and the mineral salt dosing ?

I always had 0 nitrates and i dose KNO3 and now my nitrates sit around 7

I did not check phosphates lately and so with magnesium.

Please let me know if you need more information from my end.

Thank you,
Vamsi.

Plese look at description: If one or two parameters are still not balanced- we recommend to continue with administering equal doses of each component, and take advantage of one of our additives (Calcium, Magnesium, KH Buffer) to restore desired level(s).

Hi everyone,
I am currently using calcium reactor in my 400 lt sps dominated tank.
Can I mix component A, B, C with component strong as follows or is it not possible?

Component A
1lt RODI Water
5ml Strong A
5ml Strong B

Component B
1lt RODI Water
5ml Strong C

Component C
1lt RODI Water
25g Reef Mineral Salt
5ml Strong K

I believe you are referring to Component A, B , C and Strong A, B, C, K as different systems.

Please see the description here

Component Strong need to be mixed with,
pay attention to the first line in the instructions

Instructions:

Requires use of Aquaforest Dry Calcium, KH Buffer, Magnesium, and Reef Mineral Salt mixed into solutions.
Component A - Add 5 mL to 1000 mL of Calcium and Magnesium Aquaforest solution.
Component B
- Add 5 mL to 1000 mL of Calcium and Magnesium Aquaforest solution.
Component C - Add 5 mL to 1000 mL of KH Buffer Aquaforest solution.
Component K - Add 5 mL to 1000 mL of Reef Mineral Salt Aquaforest Solution

My question isn't really complicated. I ask only what happens if I do not mix the red marked products from the Component 1+2+3 recipe. That's all.

I think I can reach Component ABC in this way. What's yours opinion?

I am sorry, I miss understood your question. Basically you are mixing it in Rodi water. I don't think that will be a problem. You would have to dose based on your consumption for ca and alk. For that, you would need to see how much your calcium reactor is providing alk and calc for a day to keep the levels where you want them to be at. Maybe someone from Aquaforest can chime in.

Hello,
This is not recommended to use in calcium reactor. For example when you are running calcium reactor there is no need to dose Reef Mineral Salt. Please read more about Reef Mineral Salt here: https://aquaforest.eu/en/how-reef-mineral-salt-works/

You can choose Component ABC: https://aquaforest.eu/en/product/componenta/ https://aquaforest.eu/en/product/componentb/ https://aquaforest.eu/en/product/component-c/

Hello,

Thanks for response.

Component ABC is not a very cost effective solution.

if we remove the mineral salt from the list, it feels like we can get our own component ABC mix using component strong.

The real question is, when we mix "5 ml component strong A to 1 liter of RODI water", what will be the density of it?

same with original Component A or more / less ?

Hi,

I dose 1+2+3+ but my Mg is at 1500 and does not drop, can I let it out from component 3+ (self-mix) until Mg has dropped to an acceptable level?

Concentration of Components ABC and Strong are different. Please look at our website:
Component ABC: In aquariums run with Balling method – 20 ml/1 l Balling solution.
Component Strong: 5 ml should be added to 1 litre of ready Balling solution.

My Mg also runs high - 1500-1600, at least according to my Red Sea Pro kits (I have tested with two different ones). I initially ran less, then no Component 3+ but Mg didn’t really drop. The research I did suggested that high Mg isn’t really a big issue so I went back to dosing all 3 components equally as AquForest recommend. Overall the tank is happier since I did that. Mg is still high, just below 1600 but nobody in the tank seems to care.

Due to a lack of response from Aquaforest (not on the forum or by e-mail) I decided to let out the magnesium in the preparation of my Component 3+. So I only use Reef Mineral Salt and Strong K.
If the Mg starts to fall, I can add it back.

I mix my own components and add my Mg to component 3. I had the same problem with high Mg and decided to reduce the amount of Mg i add from 50 grams for 5 liters of mix to 30 grams. Along with weekly water changes of @ 10% my mg stays @ 1400.

Thanks for that suggestion - I also mix my own now so will try reducing the Mg in the 3+ a little to bring it down a little.

Hey all,

Long time user of 123+ but have always noticed that I cannot get my levels where I really want them unless I add a little extra of 1 of them to adjust my levels.

I have a RS Reefer 170 mixed reef and dose 30ml over 24 hours. My Alk is constant around 8.6 but my Mg and Calc are much lower. If I dose more them my Alk will shoot up... Is this where a KH buffer comes in? Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Thank you for your question.
Can you please share us more info about your aquarium?
When did you start it? Did you use rock? Do you have sand? - which one?
How much corals do you have? Which level of calcium do you have with Alk 8,6?

That could helps for start.
