Hi I started all over after I had a fish wipe out last year and was using miracle mud then cemented rock caused a cycle then had 8 months of constant algae issues so then i just pulled it all out new rock new water.

So now after a few months of using AF method I am still battling constant algae issues I am very close to just giving up now this is supposed to be fun.

Any help?

Which additives are you using and what are your parameters?

Hi thanks for your message

Aquaforest
Probiotic salt
Pro bio s
Pro bio f
-NP Pro
Component 1+2+3+
Vitality
Energy
Build
Amino Acids
Phosphate remover
Carbon

I've been doing some research and it appears I might be over dosing

Will send parameters shortly

Had the same issue when using AF system similar to what your doing. For whatever reason, switching to Red Sea Pro and associated additives cured my algae problem and has not been an issue since.

What's your water volume and how much of ABEV and pro bio s/ polymer are you dosing?

ABEV 2x drops per day
-NP Pro 10ml per day
Pro Bio f 2x scoops per day

I have a sparse tank so far so thinking ive over dosed tank

Was fine until I started doing 123+ dosing 50ml per day made a mistake cos that's for a full reef but I haven't so maybe over dosing supplements

I'm sure you already know but ABEV is supposed to be dosed every other day. And you can overdose this stuff so if you don't have much corals do 1/2 or 1/4 of the amount per water volume and maybe that will help your case.

How long have you had algae issues for?

If your nitrates and phosphates are high then I guess increasing your probiotic items will help along with some water changes but without knowing some more details it might be hard to figure out

Ok yes sorry I dose ABEV every other day ive stopped dosing 123+ at the moment

Temp. 25.2
SG 1.025
PH 8.2
dKH 11 5
Ca. 504
Mg 1500
N03. 1ppm max
P04 0.08

N02 & Nh3 0

Thats why I stopped dosing 123+ cos it's so high

Yeah I mean some water changes will fix that no problem, shouldn't have to worry too much.

On the other hand your nitrate and phosphate aren't super high so maybe the higher iron and few other elements helped fuel growth?

I'd say try removing as much as possible manually or with animals and see if your nitrates and phosphates rise as they die off. If they do then they were masking a nutrient issue and you need to figure out if you feed too much or have too many fish, etc. Or just dose more carbon

I haven't personally had issues with AF products causing algae growth in the past nor when I'm restarting the tank with AF this time so that's the best I can do for you I think. Good luck.

I appreciate your advice I will do large w/c tomorrow is 50% too much?

Normally people recommend a series of smaller water changes so you don't startle anything. I either do 3 water changes of 30% over 3 days or 20% changes over 4 or 5 days if I think something has gone bad. Since you're bringing alk down from 11.5 to about 8 of the salt, I would do no more than 15 to 20% a day, don't wanna have a huge alk swing downward.

Depends how fast you brought up the dkh but Idon't think the high alk will kill anything. You might stress things even more trying to fix it vs letting it down slowly. So take it slowly and don't panic.

Hi, welcome to R2R and posting in the forum. What is the total water volume? Also, you are sure that you are dosing 10 ml NP Pro each day? If yes then is this the doser format NP Pro? what is the current number of of fishes and corals in the tank?

Thanks everybody

Tank is 250 not including displacement

7x fish
Inverts
And approx 15 corals

Thanks guys done 75l water change in the last few days got 250l aquarium.
And keep cleaning glass also ceased dosing 123+ and reduced ABEV so far still got diatoms but hopefully will go soon,it's really starting to ruin my hobby.

Your nutrients were low because the algae was using them before you could measure. Stopped feeding the algae and it died. Go slow whenever you do start feeding again.
