Hello,

I started dosing Aquaforest KH, Ca/Mg, and mineral salt along with dosing AEBV every other day, around one week ago. My system is a 180 gallon sps dominant with about 220 gallons of total water volume, when you include my sump and refugium.

I mixed the recipes as per the instruction on the containers, and in the aquaforest guide, currently dosing 100ml/day. My levels this morning were, alk 7dkh, calcium 405ppm, mag 1400.

I have a neptune apex controller in my system, and my salinity has been reading consistently around 32.5ppt for about a year now, which corresponds to 35ppt on my refractometer. However, since I started dosing aquaforest products, it's been slowly climbing, currently at 33.4 - 33.9 ppt.

Is it normal for salinity to rise when dosing mineral salt? Or am I missing something?

Appreciate everyone's input!

Not sure what mineral salt is, but dosing calcium and alkalinity will also raise salinity when done the way you are doing it. :)

The mineral salt is the NaCl free salt, part of the 3 part dosing scheme. I dosed a 2 part calcium/alkalinity mixture all along but never seen an increase in salinity to this degree, my skimmer seemed to keep it balanced..
