Thinking about switching from KZ to Aquaforest but I was wondering if Aquaforest -NP Pro does also include NO3 as KZ Start3 does and if not, why not?

KZ includes NO3 in its bacteria food to prevent a complete depletion of it (which I think is a smart thing to do). But if it's missing in the Aquaforest -NP Pro, I might want to add it myself.

I didn’t know KZ s3 has NO3 in it. I’ve been using either products and have switched back and forth a few times without any issues. I thought they were just a carbon source to feed and grow nitrate reducing bacteria thereby reducing NO3. I’ve literally posted on the zeovit forum asking if it’s ok to dose KNO3 when my levels were too low. They didn’t recommend it. I like AF because it comes with a dropper which is a lot more convenient than a syringe. They also have a doser ready mix. You could always dose KNO3 if NO3 too low.

I use the entire AF line and it does not. NP Pro accelerates the development and propagation of beneficial probiotic bacteria, which as the effect leads to the removal of harmful compounds such as nitrates and phosphates from the water.

Bacteria consumes those compounds but in a specific order. That is why adding nitrates will help to remove phosphates as it will stop removing this if it's depleted. That is why adding nitrates together with carbon solution makes sense.

Might be in some other bottle though.

Just found this in the AquaForest Product guide:
Probiotic method guarantees keeping nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4) on a low level. It is necessary to remember not to remove nitrate (NO3) completely from the water. If there is a problem with a very low level of nitrate, just increase the food dosage.

Personally I think that adding NO3 to this product might be an improvement on the product line. As it will prevent complete removal of NO3 from the water.
@Aquaforest : Is it safe to add KNO3 to the -NP Pro product?

We don't recommend to add anything to our products.

Umm..I’m afraid too,and going to switch Kz to AF,Bramzor.Interesting this thread.

Yes,Kz zeostart includs no3 (high concentration) ,maybe carbon source(we cannot test carbon level by kits lol)

Referring to AF product guide,I guess Pro bioF is a kind of carbon source, but Some beautiful AF tanks isn’t used it.
It seems NP pro is always required. So I’m afraid NP pro includes carbon and high concentrations NO3 to avoid depletion No3.

It is easy to check whether the product includes NO3 if we buy it.I’ll try
