so i got on the aquaforest wagon om march 8 ,
i did a water change 1/4 redsea coral pro (my ols salt) and 3/4 Aquaforest probiotics . i didnt test the parameter cause i suspected to be all wack do to the mix . But on my second water change 3/27 /16
i mix 17 gal of rodi water at temp around 78 degrees and starting to add salt till dissolved and test for salinity using my refractrometer till i got a 1.025 , then i let it mix for 2 hours and test for ph alk ca mg im using a redsea test kit expiration date 1/2018
and i was surprise my alk was 6.16 my Ca was 360 Mg was 1560.
on the certification page said salinity 33ppt alk 8 Ca 430 Kh 8 dkg
so i grab a cup of the mix to confirm my salinity lvl and insert my apex probe and my secon temp probe both connected to the pm2 module , after a few min apex was reading tem at 79 f and salinity at 34.1. . I was not happy the mg was that high my tank is at 1340-1360 . so i test everything 3 times all ties same readings . the I NOTICE A THING the salt was made back in 2/11/15 , DOEST THAT MATTER ?? .
I went ahead and email aquaforest so far im very dissapointed all i got from them is to contact who i purchased from , all i want to know is WHAT IS THE SHELF LIVE OF THIS PRODUCT ?? i cant get a straight answer from them .
I had to use bionic to match the alk and ca , im currently using componet 123 but as you know component 2 has CA and MG together , i didnt want my MG higher .
I also talk to a fellow reefer and his quality certificate had different readings than my ??

Hello,
Date of product that bucket is 2/11/2015 that's mean: 2 November 2015
Salt could be used for 5 years.

Every batch is testing in laboratory, not by home tests. We are adding certificate because We are sure of that parameters.
Home tests changing results from 5-10% that's why We are not using that in our Company.
If the product does not meet your expectations You can make a complaint in store where You bought that.

Regards,
Aquaforest

thanks for clarifying the date and shelf life . i do understand that home kits are not 100% accurate . but 5-10 % off is very huge most brand in the us claim to be only 0.05 meq/l off or less .

my second question was , Does every bucket has different parameters , ? consistency is very important , and nothing more annoying that changing the water and change drastically the parameters.

Is there a site with a comprehensive list of all the products you offer and what each is for and briefly how they benefit the reef tank? I would like to read about it and see what I can try besides salts. (currently on RedSea products).

Thanks,

Try mixing the salt in the bucket before adding to the water by rolling the bucket back and forth. Sometimes certain particles can settle in the bottom causing abnormal values.

You do know people and businesses are from different parts of the world and time zones.
yes i do , but when the company ignore your email for days, ignores to answer a simple question here for days . the only way he has answer is quote him on other post , very annoying obviously doesnt care about customer, especially when u can tell the last activity was reading your post and still doesn't answer ,

im not referring of the actual test perform at home , im asking about the quality certificate that come on each bucket , i have order 2 times and is always different , its concerning because every mix would have different values and affects the auto dosing settings , last time i change the water my mg went up by 300 pionts or higher test kit wont go higher than 1600,

do you use the probiotics salt , ?? check your certificate sheet , if you want share the specs , lets see how it compares to my order

i use coralife salt for 2 years never had parameter swings on different orders , every bag tested the same also use redsea coral pro , test it and it match the parameters on the bucket every time .

im not disliking the aquaforest brand by all means , im very happy so far with the effect on my corals and the colors , salt mixes the best and crystal clear way better than those mention above , its just a concern if every order is gonna be on different parameters .

new bucket of probiotic came in , dated was 26/01/2016
34ppt
mg 1410
ca430
alk 8 dkh
this are the numbers from the quality certificate

this time i decided to mix the entire bucket so i got 35 gallons of rodi water @ 78 degrees after mixing it and let it settle for 3 hours i tested the water and apex said i was at 33ppt , my alk was 7.8 ca ,400 mg 1460, temp 76 from apex probe .im extremely happy how close everything reads using my redsea test kit. im looking foward to continue using aquaforest . i ordered 6 other products from them , and i created a faacebook page to help each other out and share how successful we get using this amazing product .

I did change the whole 35 g of water of my tank last Sunday the corals responded very nice to this water change , i never change this much water before , and i also add 50ml of each component 123 to increase the new water parameters my tank was running much higher , i didn't wanted to drastically drop the parameters .

im not sure why my first test ware so off , im using the same test kit this time
