Aquaforest Reef Salt Experience

If anything I would question the eXact iDip... that thing is all over the place for me. I have multiple test kits of most of the parameters I test for... Nyos, Red Sea, Hanna Checker and the iDip. The iDip is by far the most inconsistent... sometimes unusable.

Well I just got my Aquaforest DKH test kit today and I'm gonna compare them to see the difference.

Can you please share which instruction? Also, you should mix the salt based on calibrated refractometer reading. Mix it for 35ppt or 34ppt and let us know what the dkH is.

I am not asking for the dkH reading. I am asking that if you can mix the salt at 34 or 35 ppt and then take a dkH reading. For a moment just forget the AF instruction.

Yep S always test low for Triton method and relative to other salts I typically see 700-755 where 900 is the goal. Could you explain why you run this element lower that other brands and relative NSW.

I am also curious at what point you regect a batch of salt S and Sr seem low some other elements high Mn,Fe but only relative to NSW can you post what your acceptable ranges for elements are for manufacturing the salt?

This is the reading I got after I mix the salt at 35 ppt.

I haven't had Alk issues, but my mg from 3 totally separate buckets are over 1600ppm =(

I think my bucket is the same way, every time I did a water change my Mag went up (it is over 1500 ppm now), so I've stopped doing water changes...

Who are you and how do I know you have the batch number from the box of salt I have? I never sent you anything

That is directly from Aquaforest in Poland Don. I told you via email that we are taking care of this issue. I forwarded all your information to them and to the customer support team. As I told you via email we are in the process of taking care of this situation. Please has some patience.

Its Aquaforest Poland. You have the batch number and they are suggesting that you visit the link they provided and put your batch number to check the ICP tested value of your batch of salt. They ICP test every batch of salt before sending them out.

This issue was actually resolved. His tester was giving him false readings. This gentlemen came forward on Facebook and apologized to Aquaforest. He got a proper test kit and his dkh was 8.0 .

I saw that as well, in this day of the inflated ego, I must give this guy props. Not many are willing to accept that they are wrong, but to publicly apologize, that takes you know what, lol, and I respect the you know what out of him for doing so :)

I could understand his frustration, not knowing the problem often falls on false pretenses. It's so easy to blame a product when the solution is right in front of you. Logic is too easily forgotten when panic starts, I too have done this before and most of us have too but to apologize the mistake takes a lot of courage to face the music. Bravo all is good.

Good that all is clear and that you found the reason of misreading. Aquaforest put lot of efforts to test all salts that are produced there. There is a special laboratory with professional tools (one of the most advance ICP and others ) and chemists that works there. There are 8 specialists (biologists and chemists) that works full time in Aquaforest laboratory to provide best quality possible of products that we can use in our tanks.
