Well depends on what sort of corals you have in your tank. If you have mostly SPS and are looking to go ULNS (Ultra Low Nutrient system) then I would go with the Probiotic Reef Salt. I run a LNS (low nutrient system working on ULNS) and I have 95% SPS in my tank. I have both the salt mixes, I am using the reg reef salt for larger water changes (currently have an algae issue, that I am getting rid of). When I get back to normal I will switch back to reg 12g water changes with the probiotic salt. The polyp extension is a lot better, but it is not just the salt mix which makes that happen. There is so much to the water chemistry that makes all of that happen. Good luck

I switched to AF and really liked it. It dissolves instantly when mixing and parameters were great. Then the price went up from $25 (small bucket) to $33. Then most of the LFS/warehouses stopped carrying it because of exclusive contracts. Then the last 2 buckets I purchased I had issues with them. 1 turned different shades of blue (the salt) after about 2 weeks of use. I didn't trust it so I discarded it. The 2nd bucket came as 1 solid block of salt in the shape of the bucket. It seemed like it was starting to get problematic so I switched back to red sea where things were simple.

I have heard that with several of my friends, knock on wood hasn't happened to me yet. Now my buddies have switched back to Red sea blue bucket, but they are still using all of the AF line, other than the salt. Things are going great for them, so far.

I switched from using RS Pro salt to AF when i started new tank. I transferred coral from one tank to new tank. I can tell you the polyp extension on my LPS is craxy. The growth is very noticeable. I have more growth in these last tewo months than whole year before in my old tank. Is it the AF reef salt and mix of AF products i use like AF Energy, Coral V , Components 123 etc. or is the the new Radions Gen 4s. Not sure what it is but there is a huge difference.

Anyone here make the switch? All out of reef crystals, and thinking of switching to Aquaforest.
I love their reef mix, and have been using it for almost a year now. My tanks have never looked better. I breed clownfish also and use their sea mix in it with great results.
I will say, I had problems with the probiotics mix and a few of my friends did also, but we all have stayed with the reef mix and have had no issues since.

Same switch I did and my tank has visibly improved. Before that I used red sea pro and liked it but the increase in price lately over here made it an easy hoice to go for af reef.

I'm not convinced it makes any important difference what salt mix a reefer uses.

I picked up aqua forest because it was on special and most of all they were including free t-shirts. Free t-shirts. I've tried a few different salts, Probably the biggest thing I noticed was how fast it mixes and no funk in the bucket

You're probably right but it normal for us to see a "perceived positive change" if we are happy with a product.
