Aquaforest Transition

If your parameters are fairly close to NSW, then it would make sense to switch over. AF Reef Salt will mix closely to these values, and with a shift downward in mag, I highly doubt that will impact corals. That said, no need to suspend dosing, but water changes will bring you in balance, so a perfect time to switch. The nice thing about having a salt lower in values, is that you don't have to worry about the water changes impact on alk, it mixes fairly close to where you maintain your levels. This will only further balance your tank, IMO. Sorry for confusion, I was under the impression that you wanted to decline alk from around 9-10dkh, that is why I suggested to take dosing offline, that way these levels would fall. Cheers

Thanks Perry, I have researched Aquaforest salts for a while and ready to make the switch. I originally considered the AF probiotic salt, but thought I would make the switch first to the AF reef salt and then consider the probiotic salt. I do limit my feedings because always concerned about algae outbreaks, especially when adding amino acids.

I think you will find if you get an algae outbreak after dosing aminos (provided they were in the correct dosage amount) your nutrients are already too high. IMO, if you have nutrients high enough to tip the scale and get algae then the corals won't consume the aminos as readily anyways. Best to save your money for the time being and work to get those nutrients down super low. Also, once they are super low you will find that you can feed a lot more and the excess nutrients caused from the excess feeding will be consumed by the corals and you will stay ULNS.

Been thinking about making the change from Red sea.. I think i'm convinced
Depending on which bucket you used before you might notice a drastic drop in alk between the two. RS blue bucket alk is closer in line with the AF salts but the RSCP is much different. Nothing really to worry about if you stick to the 10% weekly water change that is recommended.

I use regular Red Sea salt. Keep my alk around 8dkh.

I am currently on af probiotic salt, pro bio s and np pro, Brs two part and red sea colors and energy. I was thinking of making the change over to the af 1+2+3+ and was wondering peoples experience with it?

So you should not have to worry at all about any alk swings. Really, in a 10% weekly water change it wouldn't have mattered much even if you were using RSCP but knowing it was the blue bucket I am sure you will be fine.

Introduce the new salt through weekly water changes and keep doing that for next 4-6 week. Then you can move to complete system.
