Hello everyone I currently have a kessil a80 over my nuvo 10. Sadly all of my zoanthids are reaching for light. I apparently do not have enough light. I was thinking about purchasing a kessil a160 or ai prime hd. however. I have run across the aquaknight otherwise known as the Hipargero led. does anyone have any experience with this light, and zoas in a nuvo 10?

It’s a great light. Used it over a nuvo 20 and was able to keep softie, lps, and nems

were any of your zoas reaching like mine in the pic?

No. I had my zoas at the bottom
Yea with the a80 maxed out at 100% with the zoas at the top of the tank. They are reaching for more light.

I had a 10g and tried a couple cheaper lights, not the aqua night though. None of them grew coral that great and I wish I would have bought an Ai Prime from the start. Would have saved some money. You can find them often used for around $150 or so with the mount. Really thinks it’s worth it.

I mean I dont know about that. If the prime uses cree led, and this uses cree. What is the difference? At the end of the day all that matters is par, and pur. Everything else is just for fun.

I’m not too familiar with what LEDs the aqua night has but I’m sure the spectrum, color of the LEDs and ratio matter. I don’t think it’s just as black and white as it seems. I’m just giving my experience. The primes are a really great light for a tank that size.

Here my 30L nuvo tank with primes which is the same height as your tank.

I know the prime is awesome, but it is sold out everyplace. My zoas are reaching really hard. I want to experiment with the aquaknight as it gets rave reviews. Especially for softies. It is 30 watts the prime is 43 watts I believe.

Yea I’m sure it will be fine, just suggesting in the long run you would probably happier with a prime. Best of luck to you!

The Hipargero LED seems to be a solid non-brandname alternative. I have considered it as an option to upgrading the lights on my IM Nuvo 10g. Good luck!

I’m surprised you’re having such issues with your A80. I had one over my IM10, and the. Had 3 over my IM30 and had excellent results.
It's just apparently not bright enough. All my zoas are reaching. It is only 15 watts. Par at the the top is probably only 110-70. If that.

I have an A80 on my 16 gallon BioCube that is 14 inches tall and the light is another, maybe 6 inches off the water. All my coral are doing great including my Zoas. I have a beautiful trumpet coral sitting on the bottom and a frogspawn that is growing out of control as well. When my Zoas were given to me, they were maybe 4 polyps and now it’s like 9 or 10. I’m just saying, maybe it’s placement and not the light. How is everything else in the tank?

It could be the shop I buy from uses heavier lighting. My tank parameters match my shop's almost exact accept for phosphate. Each coral I've purchased has over weeks receded as opposed to growing, and or maintaining. It could be because I run it at 100% blue.
