Aquamaxx cones co-1

I need some help. I have a cones co-1 skimmer. I’ve had it running for a few months now and it constantly foams over how the heck can I get this thing dialed in
Couple things that vary foam production
•Height the skimmer is in the water
•Air intake/ blockages in the tubing being effected
• blockages in the pump/impeller
• usually, you leave the setting to ‘max’ for a couple months, letting the skimmer break in, the dial it in so that the foam does what it needs to do! You could have the skimmer sitting too low in the tank, because it was breaking in it didn’t do it, now it’s broken in, foam is being created
Google the recommended depth your system suggests!
hope this helps!

So I actually just built a stand to raise it another inch to get the bottom of the air silencer out of the water and opened the dial all the way open again. Cleaned the neck and everything then gonna try to dial it in. First time with a skimmer heck first go with a reef period and I can say it’s been a lot of trail and ERROR “alot”

Yes- elevate it. I have the model Q2 and did the same until I elevated it and runs great now

That’s reefing! I don’t think anyone will ever know the ins and outs of everything, life if trial and error, you just try to avoid error... sometimes that’s how you learn though! Im using a skimmer for the first time also, letting it settle in first! Been running max for a couple days but I research how to keep/ use anything I buy religiously until I know as much as I can about it lol!
good luck buddy! Stick with it! It’s rewarding

I’m the same way with researching and with this skimmer I got it because on sale it was in my budget and didn’t research it at all like with everything else. Live and learn I enjoy the hobby so far just trying to overcome some small set backs right now

So after elevating it and cleaning everything up real good it is a lot better. Still foamed out of the small opening in the lid but nowhere like it was so I backed off on the adjustment just a little and will see what happens

thanks for the help

I love mine, skims like a beast. I keep mine in 8", run fairly dry. Mine sometimes fills and overflows in collection cup, where vented slot is. Doesn't bother me much, I usually dial back slightly when this occurs.
