Aquamaxx hob-1 inconsistent?

Anyone have this skimmer? Mine is well broken in. I don't dose, the only additive I use occasionally is secon, but I haven't added that in weeks, waiting to disguise this thing out. Last water change was Wednesday.

I usually have the cup position very high, because it often fills with straight water. Emptying a few cups of water starts to bring my salinity down, but dumping it back in causes the skimmer to go nuts.

So it's been position up high, and stayed dry since Wednesday, but this morning filled to the overflow tube with water. Should I just keep raising the cup until this stops? Seems like something is wrong.

My hob-1 goes nuts when switch out poly filter/filter floss. I have to remove the collection cup for about 12 hours. I've been trying to look for any alternatives to poly-fill, with no luck. Secon is causing this problem for you?

Raise the cup, and if need be, use a rubberband to hold the cup up....they sometimes slip down. Also check this out:

I don't think selcon is causing this, I know it can so I only mentioned it to rule it out.

Maybe it is just sliding down, I am using the included oring, but maybe it's not enough.

Thanks for the link, I'm not having microbubble issues anymore though. Made my own bubble stop. [emoji16]

Is there a point where the collection cup is too high, and the skimmer will no longer do its job?
