I just purchased a used Aquamaxx HOB 1 protein skimmer from here and I have had it installed for about 2 weeks now. This thing is really noisy and I have huge bubbles spitting back into my tank not to mention micro bubbles everywhere. I have watched a bunch of videos to make sure I put this thing together correctly and it is. From everything I read this skimmer is a beast, but I am not happy with it. I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I'm scratching my head. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the HOB-1 right now. What kind of tank is this on and is the water level in the box relatively level? Also, is it producing bubbles like this?

It is on a 37 gallon tall tank. What do you mean by relatively level. The water level in the skimmer is higher than the tank. It is producing the same bubbles just like yours. But I am getting large bubbles in my tank as well. And this thing is so loud

Just making sure the skimmer isn't mounted at a slant. Also, all hang on back skimmers are loud. I've tried a few. You'll have to purchase the $25 bubble stopper from marine Depot to stop the bubbles.

Thanks for helping! This one was outside of my experience.

Ok, I’ll check when I get home. Is that the cause of the large bubbles coming out of the outlet?

It sort of depends. I'm not sure if you have the first gen hob-1 or the 2nd gen and it's also possible the tubes are hooked up incorrectly. Maybe later you can post a picture of the pipes coming out of the skimmer box? Just so I can see how it looks.

Will do, thanks for the help
