I have exhausted google and you tube trying to figure this one out. Last week the skimmer was working great. Nice Dark green color and very slowly filling up. Today it fills up quicker than I can dump it. I have tried the following :

Raised cup to highest position
cleaned all intakes etc
tried raising the actual skimmer higher

The only thing different that I can think of that was done was a little epoxy to glue a coral this morning.

Although this model has an overflow system that dumps it back into the container, I am considering turning it off at night and while at work to prevent any accident.

Solutions I read was turning the drain left or right so half of it is out the water.....I can not figure out which drain this is.

Pinching the tube just shuts the whole system down.

Any ideas? solutions? thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all

Epoxy will make the skimmer go nuts

I am by no means an expert on it nut I wold think time. The only reason I think epoxy makes the skimmer go nuts it marine depot just put out a product spotlight on some plastic epoxy. In that video they stated the new epoxy wont make the skimmer overflow like regular epoxy.

Epoxy will definitely drive a skimmer crazy for a bit.

Definitely, 100% due to the epoxy. You could do a water change but I bet it still overflows for a few more days.

+1 to epoxy

I have this exact skimmer and the only thing that has caused an overflow was a snail getting into and plugging the return somehow. I just drilled a pvc cap with a bunch of 1/8" holes to create a grill so it doesn't happen again.

removed all epoxy (will never use again) did about 40% water change and changed the filter. Darn thing still over flowing. I hope the madness ends soon.
