Hello

My skimmer broke.
Can I fix it with weld-on or superglue? If weld-on, which one should I use?
It's an Aquamaxx ConeS C0-2 cell cast acrylic.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with that particular skimmer. does the body come off that [broken] base? what's the purpose of those thumb screws? If it comes off, I would suggest getting a new bottom plate, if the base and bottom plate are a sealed unit and it still holds water, weldon 3 or 4 will do the trick. But if there's an O-ring that seals things up, using weldon to connect the broken pieces together may not be strong enough to hold things together.

If it's going to be in a sump/refugium, then sealing it may not be a big issue.

The base comes off but I don't know if I can buy a replacement base.
The thumbserw you see holds the body to the base.
The tab is supposed to be on the body but it separated when it broke.

I need to secure the tab back onto the body and get the base to be one piece again.

Oh, I see, is this going to be in the sump/fuge? if so then weldon 3 or 4 should bond it together. If not I would contact aquamax and have them send you a new base, and then bond the tab back on the body.

If you were near me, I would do it for you no problem.

Weld-on 3 good to use? I can't seem to find weld-on 4.

You may want a thicker solvent like SciGrip 16 unless the pieces fit together really snugly.

Nevermind.
Found weld-on 4. Supposed to arrive to me on Monday (hopefully).

The pieces fit together perfectly! I almost don't need anything to get them to hold together. They fit together that well.

You could always reach out to Marinedepot and see if they sell the base.
