Aquamedic to pvc pipe measurements

Hi guys

I’ve upgraded my return pump on my WaterBox cube 20 to an aqua medic dc runner 1.3 with a 20mm pressure side.

I’ve just come back from my local Bunnings (hardware store here in Australia) and all of the 20mm pvc pipes are bigger than the pump. What am I missing?
Why are the two measurements different

The pipe in question I was looking at

Also what pvc fittings do I need to make the bulkhead fit?

Take the pump to the store and ask for their help finding the right parts.
