I inherited a 180 gallon tank recently, the protein filter is not working in the tank, but has a lot of reef - no corals, few fishes. Do have couple of bubble-filters only. What kind of bio filters would you recommend ?

I have a 180 DT thats plumb'ed to a 100g sump with an in-sump skimmer.

100g sump gives you lots of water volume.... and water volume is very forgiving

Skimmer eliminates waste and aerates the water with oxygen

Sump/skimmer is the only way to fly.....
