I did a 72 hour blackout and it made a good dent in my algae problem. My question is, how long should I let the tank "recover" before another blackout?

Thanks!

Depends on what's in the tank coral wise.

Black outs are a temporary fix. Addressing the reason why you had algae issues needs to be done, otherwise it may come back.

SPS and some gorgonians. I'm also working on addressing nutrients. I had a goof up with some dosing and things got out of hand quickly

Every tank is different. Attempting another black out is solely dependant on how well your corals recovered from the last one. I would suggest waiting at least a couple weeks for the zooxanthellae algae in the coral to recover from the last black out.

I was thinking a few weeks at least. Extra input certainly prevents possible mistakes.

Thanks for the input.
