Aquarium collapsed by starfish. It can be so dangerous

One year ago I bought a red starfish from a specialist retailer. After a few months he got into a pump. The result was poison in the water as well as high nitrates and phosphates. The corals fought with mucus and suffocated each other in just four hours. The damage was immense. After a few months, in which I eliminated the depots in the rock with vodka, I rebuilt the aquarium. Now it runs stably and is supplied with ATI Essentials Pro. I will never buy a starfish again. Did you have to experience something like that already?

Hmmm. I had a fromia sea star go through an MP40 and (besides my wife) nobody blinked.

Glad you are back and running though. Not sure before / after pics but a beautiful reef there.

I would put a screen on the intake as a matter of course. There are all kinds of things that can get sucked into a pump over time causing a similar problem.
