I’m about to start up a 32.5 gal reef tank with a 10 gal sump. The sump has a refugium, protein skimmer, heater, etc. I also have a filter compartment right where the water enters the sump from the main display. What do you think would be the best type of media to add?

I'd add carbon.

Biobricks is another option but since, you are just starting, you probably won't need to bring all that filtration online at the same time, so instead i would just add a live rock in the refugium chamber (unlit) to help cycle.

4x8x8 Bio brick or bio-spheres in a mesh bag.
Ridiculous amount of surface area for size.
Some say they can leech aluminum, I run 4 blocks, long time, I have not experienced this.

That is a lot of equipment for a 10 gallon tank. I would think a 20 long would work better plus allow for more water volume, just my two pennies!

I recommend an innovative Marine small basket and you can place small nylon bags with carbon, teaspoon of GFO and floss or even cotton balls
