Hello, does anyone know anything about, know of some websites, or posts about the shimmer thay comes mostly from LED lighting? I would like to get a nice shimmer going but so far it appears to depend on brightness, and wave size.

Intensity and surface tension definitely plays a big part on shimmer. Do you have leds and are not getting the shimmer you'd like? Or are you asking why leds shimmer better?

Oh hey Tamatoa. I'm going to get LEDs in the future and I would love some shimmer. I think the goal is to aim the powerhead and return toward the surface and tweak intensity?

I have yet to get my decorator crab when my tank is clean and more established. Btw I have no corals and won't for a while

Because of their single point light source, leds are the king of shimmer imo. Once you get the leds over the tank (especially kessils) you'll see it won't take much surface waves to get a good shimmer going :)

Right. My plan was a $25 controllable Chinese RGB LED strip. I can't afford anything crazy. So the spread of the strip all over the top would propose a problem?

It shouldn't as you still have the individual led chips in the light strip, so you still have that single light source point :)

Ahh I understand then. I appreciate it! Now I can't wait to get them
