I have been a hobbyist for many years. Long ago enough to have a Marine glo 48" bulb. I set up a coral tank to make room for my Grouper in the other tank. Just softies and a few easy hard corals. I purchased a used 8 bulb T5 that I have to get running and get bulbs for. A fish store here had and Life Glo 48". I have it in a flourescent fixture with my Marine Glo. The Life glo is really nice. These are T8 40 watts. It really makes a nice white light spectrum in the tank that is very flattering. I also really like Marine Glo but these are no longer made. On my 120, I have an Odyssea 4 bulb. Maybe Geismann bulbs, ATI or I don't know. 2 blue and two white.
The lighting spectrum is not as nice as my T8 Hagen bulbs. What are some good T5 Blue and white lights to buy? GE used to make a really nice Aqua Rays T8 that was a very nice white light. The spectrum was very nice. Also discontinued. Hagen made T5s for awhile but also discontinued.

ATI's Blue Plus is probably the most used. It's a great bulb.
That company also makes a purple plus. It's great to mix in with B+, but only as a single in a fixture with 6 bulbs.

Giesemann's actinic blue is similar to blue plus. Great bulb.

In an 8 bulb fixture, I still would throw in a ATI coral plus, even if you want an overall blue.

Ok my am8 bulb only has 4 working. Well two have supposedly be converted to led. I had 6 working butbonly want to run 4 anyway. My Odyessea is a 4 bulb. Was gonna do 3 blue 1 white. Maybe same in the Marin Fauna. Thx

Oh, right. Now I remember your other thread with me and Oreo.

For a 4 bulb combo, I would run 3 ATI Blue+ and 1 Coral+.

Match the spectrums to get in the ballpark IF you want to match your old lighting..

Life-glo is a 6700k bulb

Reef glo looks like the ati plus.

Side note Phillips series (if available) lists CRI and k temp.
Philips De Lux Pro 965 6500K

965 vs 865 is cri 90 vs 80.
The higher the cri the more "daylighty" they get..
850 would be 80 cri 5000k-ish

As long as you stick above 5000k-ish cri is referenced to sunlight.
Below that tungsten light.

Can I ask you?..., , My light weighs about 21lbs. I was looking at using shelving brackets to hang it but the studs may not line up. Should like 65 lb anchors be enough? I was lookung at using toggles in the ceiling but I am not sure how to get the wires o loop the attach to them. plus i don't trust it fron falling
