The sun never directly shines in this window. How worried do I need to be with the placement? Thanks in advance.

If direct sunlight doesnt reach tank ,i doubt be anymore trouble with algaes than normally get.as you just getting light rather than direct sunlight.
Be even better if sun rose and went west behind the house where you got the tank then thats good positioning imo

I have my tank close to a north facing window that doesn't get any direct light either. It's a peninsula tank with the end of the tank facing that window. I do notice that the film algae will grow a bit quicker on that end of the tank, but it's not that big of a deal as long as I keep a decent regimen of cleaning the glass. It shouldn't be enough of a problem to think about moving your tank if you like where it's at imo.
