So I am setting up a Biocube 29 and I set it up ontop of the small dresser I was going to use as a stand and the front sticks out a inch or so. do you think it would be ok to set it up this way or should I get a piece of ply wood cut to extend to support that section?

Thanks in advance

I think your problem might be center of gravity. Many dressers fall when all the drawers are open with stuff in them, so I would keep that in mind, especially with kids. It is hard to say exactly without being there in person to see it.

My wife corrected me this is a night stand actually made of real wood not particle board and I am just going to use it as a stand for the tank and not store anything in it.

I would put something under the tank itself or find something better suited for supporting it. That overhang is ugly even with a framed tank...

I believe it presents a stability problem in the tank itself in the area that is not properly supported. You may end up with a leaky tank sooner rather than later. I’m just a noob myself though, I’m sure someone more experienced will chime in soon and correct me if I’m wrong and point you in the right direction

I'm looking at that and all I can see is a little kid on tippy toes holding the top of that nightstand on each side and pulling the whole thing forward and down on themselves.

The base only reaches 3/4 of the width of the tank.

Not in my house, that's for sure.
