Ok, so with my reactor pump failing, I realized that I need to have a backup for my return pump in case something happens. So, what do yuo guys suggest for my tank...here are specs...
180 gallon reef ready with dual overflows on the back corners of the tank.
75 gallon sump
So the pump will have 5 ft of head loss from the sump to the display.
Not sure what size pump I should have for my tank, and the old one I bought 3 years ago doesnt have markings on it to say what it is.
Anyone have a formula for my size tank of return flow so I dont have garggling in my overflows, but still enough flow into the sump?
Thanks,
Bill

I follow the rule that it's best to have an identical backup for equipment so you don't have to change fittings if the one fails... I have redundant return pumps so I technically don't need a backup as the backup is currently installed. However if I see one go cheap enough I'll buy it to have a spare...

I used to use two different Odysea pumps but somewhere in the production years the fittings changed which caused me to not have an easy spare anymore. I now run dual Marineland 4500 pumps because they are sourced local. Not only am I supporting the LFS, but if I need a part he will hook me up with a part or a new pump quickly.
