Hello,
I am getting a new aquarium. I am a beginner and this will be my first one. I have narrowed my selections down to these: Red Sea 425xl, sc aquarium 90 gallon cube, or a crystalline planet aquarium 85 gallon, or water box 100. Anyone got any input or advice on these?

Choice will somewhat depend on what you want to do with the tank. I have a biocube 32 and it's the right size by volume for me and my apartment right now but I kinda wish I would have gotten something lower and wider instead of the cube.

I don't have as much horizontal room for coral as I would have liked had I known I'd get into them so much!

For me that would rule out the 90 cube and probably the waterbox 100 unfortunately.

Great thanks for the input! lol yeah had to start a little side business to save up for it!

Every time I set up to do a water test my girlfriend tells me I look like I’m running a meth lab haha

The Red Sea Reefer series and the Waterbox Platinum series are VERY similar... and the same exact price at that. You mentioned the Waterbox 100.3, but the 135.4 would be the equivalent size to the Reefer 425XL. There are a very limited amount of Waterbox setups out there... so unfortunately there just isn't any feedback on them yet. Whereas there's thousands of Reefer series tanks out there. Which you can tell just by clicking on the 2nd link in my signature. I'll let someone speak on the other brands, but the Red Sea stuff is amazing.

Awesome! That is what I’m leaning towards. I’m waiting on a quote from PLaNET to get back and go from there. I can’t wait just to get a tank and get it set up. I’ll prob be staring at it for hours

I would probably go with the red sea. While they are not the end all be all for aquariums or anything they are very very well built and look amazing. Everything is very well thought out which we really help the beginner.

good luck and welcome to the addiction.

Just took delivery on a Red Sea Reefer 525XL. Big fan of this brand

Yeah the only thing holding me back is if I’m spending that kind of money. Why not get the Planet. But the Red Sea is def going to be hard to pass up because like you said Brian!
