We’re going to be moving an when I tear my tank down an re-set it up for a manderian goby. So my question is would the bigger footprint of a 20L be ok or should I setup one of my 30 gallons for the height? I will be running a separate refugium to house copapods an attaching it to the tank. But would I want the lil larger 30?

It is always better when setting up a tank to go with the longest and widest tank for greater anaerobic and aerobic bacteria growth and population as well as living space for the plethora of benthic animals to live. If you were doing a Discus, Moray Eel, Freshwater Angelfish or African Cichlids, then I’d say you could go with a tall tank which is ideal for those species of fish.
