I have been in the market for a cost effective way to monitor my aquarium temperature remotely. I am happy with my Ranco/ heater set up for the temp control but if something were to malfunction I wouldn't know.

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this product? Seems like a simple cheap solution that will send me an alert if something is off? If not any ideas?

I find inkbird reliable
Many of us have Apex and can access temperature that way

I haven't done much research into APEX. It is pretty costly to get the whole system going right? Or do they have a standalone? At this point I am just looking for a standalone temp alarm that will notify my phone.

Looking into the description, the sensor itself is bluetooth only. Which means you will only get alerts and readings if you are at home and within range of the sensor. In order to get alarms while you are away you would need to purchase this gateway

This is still probably the most reasonable solution cost wise as any other method I can think of you will be in around the $500-900
