We have a Oceanic BioCube that has water in it for over 2 months, and now there's three tiny leaks between the black lower rim and glass.
Do not, know why.

Is there a silicone, glue, epoxy ect, that can be applied while it's wet ?

A tiny leak leads to a big leak in time (kind of like a crack on a windshield) Frag glue or coral epoxy might work, but I wouldn't count on it

Better to break it down now and fix the problem once and for all than have it fail completely down the road, when you have a lot more than 2 months in to the tank.

****, this is not good !

I'll read several of the threads below that a member on a different site wrote me. I can't believe theirs so many and in different areas. I have done some modification's and not even using the hood and light, as I have a Kessil over it. should just get a normal tank and a sump, but it's my wife's tank and she likes the look of the tank.

This just sucks !
All of my rock work may have to be torn down and re-scape in a differ tank. My wife's loves the way it is now !:cry::cry:

Google search results!

Can you apply new silicone (or other products)
over the existing silicone ?
It's not worth my time to cut out all the silicone them re-do it.

I found a local used 28g JBJ nano cube for $100, if I choose not to fix mine ?

Frag epoxy should work. It is also sold in HD as a plumbers epoxy.

HD recommended it to me years ago as a fix for a small leak I had in my plumbing that I couldn't break down and fix.

It worked great.
Goes on wet (as you know from the frag epoxy) takes a bit to cure, but if these are small leaks it should cure fine.

The look might not be what your wife wants, but it is what it is.

I'm going to try it. I bought some frag glue and rock epoxy a few weeks ago. It's worth a try. Yes, their just small leaks.
Or, am I just kidding myself, and will pay for it someday with the tank stock with corals and fish ?

I can tell you epoxy won't work. I doubt super glue will work. The issue is these get hard and brittle and they won't actually bond to the glass or existing silicone. If you attempt to fix it you need to use silicone.

I personally wouldn't risk it. A tank failure will be very expensive.

Steve there is huge difference between plumbing and a tank. Get the other tank and swap it out. Someone might buy yours and refurbish it.

Kevin, as said above you will have to break it down to properly fix the leaking issue. Put everything in a couple of buckets for a few days while you cut out old silicone and redo the inside with fresh/new silicone and then let cure for a couple of days. You only should need to redo inside bead bud and is not that big of a pain, just clean really well with isapropyl alcohol before reapplying new bead. You can run a strip of good masking tape about 3/16" off each side for a cleaner look.

Cheers, Todd

No, new silicone will not stick to cured silicone.

This would be the route I'd take, without a doubt.

I decided not to put a Band-Aid on the tank, and it doesn't matter anyway. It's going in the trash.

We just had a disaster,.... as the leaking became worse today, so we took out all the new rock, live sand and the fish. The bottom glass was cracked from one corner to the other. Was surprised it did not exploded !
It could have been worse as we only have a few corals and one fish. I don't know why it happened, it's had water in it for over two months now.
The stand was level.

Now were looing at a new cube and don't have much to spend on one, but right now Dr. Foster and Smith has the Coralife 29g on sale for. $194, shipped. Can't beat that !

Like the broken one, I will not use the hood as were using our Kessil 150w Sky Blue, our Cadlights nano skimmer and the Media Basket media and fuge towers.

I like the rimless, "all in one" setups like on Ebay from a guy that makes all kinds of tanks, frag tanks, sumps etc.... ,Glass Holes and others, but their a lot more expensive !

So my question is, what's the differences between the two ?

Todd, what the heck are you doing on the net, as your on vacation in Hawaii !!!
Are you the bored ? lol :bored:
Must be ruff !
