Well it's been a long night. I was just getting to sleep when I hear a scream from downstairs. Apparently our cat jumped into our new Reefer 450. I am now out a new Radion light (I am grateful they built such a great light, it may have gotten dunked, when the cat snapped it off its holder, but it didn't cause anymore fun for a already bad night) which thank God didn't explode, catch fire or anything else I can think of, but that was a lot of money down the drain, also tons of coral got broken (I was lucky enough to get a huge frog spawn from a guy who was breaking down his tank it was huge and very colourful...was is the key word). I also think I know now what happened to my Blue Tang yesterday, and my, clown few weeks ago.

The cat is ok, for now I resisted the urge to "Let it go", but my son who had to initially deal with the wet demon who was then flying around the house soaking everything and knocking everything over in her fit of pique may just let her go.

Anyway thanks for giving me a place to vent. I figured I can't be the only one something like this has happened to. Now it's time to rebuild what was destroyed and buy back what was soaked. Wish me luck, I think my family may even talk to me after my panic attack of fear and anger over this event.

Cheers

Jeff

Ugggggggg. I feel your pain.

My cat once made the leap landing on my large acropora colonies, and busting them up.

They only do it once though. I still position my tanks far enough away from any launching pad just in case.

That is one expensive cat episode I hope you only experience once.

I guess I'm lucky in respect that my cat could care less about the tank. Her perching stand is about 6 feet away but taller then the tank is.

I think my Miniature Schnauzer would be more likely to try and jump in the tank than my cats...lol

A friend of mine almost had a terrible fire because of his cat. The little fella jumped onto his light fixture and it fell in. Water somehow found it's way into the outlet behind the tank and shorted it out. The outlet and wall smoldered until he put it out. If he was not home it would have been a catastrophe. Good luck sorry to hear about your light. That really sucks.

Our kitten got on ours till the screen top shifted n he sunk about 4inches into tank. Hasn't been on it since but watches the fish sitting in front of tank on the ledge of stand. He's also gotten into the sump once n hasn't even tried getting under there again either. Lol. Good luck with everything.
