I have a 5 gal water bottle that I want to use to store water for water changes. I found a place close to home where I can buy RO water. I live in an apartment so installing a system is not feasible. I have had the 5 gal bottle empty for a while so I was wondering what would be the best way to clean it out so that I can use it for my tank. I have a FOWLR tank and I would be sure to check perimeters before using the water. Thanks for any suggestions.

Of water was the only thing ever in the bottle I would just rinse it out good and use it. If your not sure what was in it a new one is pretty cheap. Also to sterilize the bottle you can add water and some bleach shake it up a bit then rinse well refill add prime let sit for a bit rinse again , if there's a bleach smell repeat the prime until the is no smell

It was only used for drinking water on a water machine. It has no smell and it's be inside the whole time I have had it. So I guess I'll rinse it and go get it filled up. Thank you
