Aquariums and music noise

Well if you call it music. My daughter is/has been talking about taking drum lessons. I tried a bit a few years ago myself and thought about doing it with her to help keep her interest up in it. Sort of a father/daughter project thingy.

My concern is the noise level of the drums, most likely in the same house level, read basement, as the tanks.

The wife and I discussed it a bit and talked about building a "sound room" with insulated walls and sound proofing material on the walls. Is this a smart idea or is there something better I could do to control noise?

sound outside the tank shouldn't be a problem. my tank sits about two feet from a speaker. I play music and my tv surround loud. vibration is another thing. that may have an effect. I played the drums for years and I don't think they would cause any vibration, even in the same room.

there was a recent thread on this in the lounge and this was my response

in my younger days which was five yrs ago used to get cop visits, friendly reminders about the music, on a weekly basis when playing live inside my house with some heavy metallers who wouldn't settle for under 130 db = mr mason we are here to inform you that your neighbors....long story short, we were vibrating my pico reef nearly off the counter and the corals wouldn't even close. delicate fish may ram themselves insane. no bethics w die from heavy metal, im sure of that.
