Any reason people arnt doing it? I mean i 40 breeder on sale isnt much more than a brute trash can and in my opinion kinda takes up less space
 
For me, it is space saving to have a smaller footprint but is taller. My mixing station is in my garage so vertical space isn’t an issue.

Plus I like the fact that no light can enter, and a tight fitting lid for less evaporation.
 
And no drilling glass for bulkheads. Uniseals work great, are cheaper, and if you bump any piping there’s no glass to crack!
 
I was thinking doing this. One on top of the other and maybe a qt tank on top so 3 tall
