Hi there! I will be setting up a 600-litre tank with similar dimensions to the Red Sea 625 XXL. But, I am not sure about what type of aquascape to do. So, I was hoping all of you could help me out by posting pictures of your tanks so that I can see that aquascape and make something similar! The only two things are that I do not want a wall or any of the rocks touching the glass, that is all. So, the people with tanks of similar dimensions of 4-6 feet long, please upload the pictures here and tell me how to improve. Thank you! Looking forward to all of your beautiful tanks!

That's actually really nice! What are the dimensions of your tank and how much rock did you need to make this? from the aquascape, I am assuming it is an SPS dominated tank. Also um I forgot to write this but can you please post a picture of your tank now? Just to see how it looks after adding fish and corals and all.

The tank is a 500 gallon, it’s a project at golden state corals in Los Angeles (reseda) California. It will be a sps dominant tank for colonies. It ongoing at the moment, there is some welding to be done for the top frame support, I will post pictures as soon as there is water in the tank… someone was actually hired to do the aquascaping,,,,

the aquascaper used flat dry rock with gel glue for a quick adhesion , then covered in concrete with sand/rock rubble for a finished natural look..

I see, thank you so much!

I recommend watching BRSTV HNSA video. The aquascapes built in there and similar examples they show are a good reference point. I used their technique with Real Reef artificial rock for my aquascape and am very happy with the results. In my case, I went with a number of small structures vs fewer big ones to make it easier to lift into my tank.

It doesn’t look too bad! Although I heard that it becomes harder to siphon the sand because of the lighting diffuser/egg crate.

I’ve been in the hobby long enough to see sand siphoning come and go and come back. :squinting-face-with-tongue: The reason for the grid in my system is piece of mind mostly, with just a little “rock don’t move” thrown in. I do need more sand though. Once that’s in you shouldn’t see the grid anymore. As for cleaning, I’m trying to use critters for that but we will see.

I see thank you so much! That is not available here, so I may just put another piece of glass on the bottom. Just so that if any of the rocks fall, they don’t fall on the main bottom glass of the tank. I will bother you one last time and bombard you with questions.
1) what is the size of your tank and what are you using for light and flow?
2) what do you have for filtration?
3) how many fish are you planning to keep? And also what are you going to use as cuc and how many of them.
4) finally, how will you be cycling the tank and will u be quarantining the fish? If so how?

@reefininBD

60 x 24 x 24" tank.
IMO, you don't need any extra glass on the bottom. If you place yr rocks as per the shape and glue yr scape properly and let it cure, you are good to go.

Hey, it’s your thread.
1) it’s an Innovative Marine 100-ext. it’s about 100g, ~48X24X19 so shorter than a 120. Light will be an Aquatic Life 36” fixture for now, might upgrade later. Flow will be some older powerheads from a previous tank, a Tunze (not sure size, 6055?), two older MP40s, and the returns are two Sicce 3.0s running full open.

2) Filtration will be a skimmer and probably a refugium if I feel the need for one. I’ve seen plenty of options over the years but water changes still seem the best option, especially early on. That seemed to work for me the last time I had a decent tank (before I messed it up) so I’m going to play it slow and simple.

3) Fish will be fairly light with mostly working fish: a wrasse, algae blenny, tang or two. A couple clowns because: required. After that I’m thinking some captive bred specimens. My LFS almost nothing but captive bred so most of my fish will come through them.

4) Im cycling the tank now with bottle bacteria. As the tank gets daylight through the glass doors this time of year I’m leaving the lights off for a while. We will see.

I see thank you so much! And good luck with your tank!

I see thank you so much! This is the exact measurements that I will be getting! Just that the depth will be 26 inches instead of 24. I might get an aquascape similar to this one. What are you using for filtration and flow? Please let me know, thank you!

Filtration is mainly mechanical filtration using filter sponge , followed by skimmer. Lots of media in the sump for bacteria colonisation.
Flow : 2 x maxspect xf 350 gyres for now.

Thanks

I plan on using a roller mat (Bubble Magus) and then a protein skimmer (most probably bubble magus curve 9 elite or else curve 7 elite. But I will most probably oversize the skimmer as I plan to have 3-4 tangs and some other fish. A total of around 17-20 fish) and bio media (Maxspect bio blocks in the baffles) in the beginning. But later on I plan on adding a refugium or reactors as needed. I will have a chiller (Hailea) and for light I will be using Radions XR15 G6’s (3 of them) and for flow I also plan on using the dual Maxspect XF 350 Gyres but I am not sure if that will be enough, so please let me know.
