I have a nano fluval evo 13.5 gallon aquarium with a pair of clowns and a yellow watchman goby but i want to re scape it without messing up the cycle how would i be able to re scape it without removing the sand?

Bacteria doesn’t just live on/in sand it also lives on the rock, tank glass, in the filter, on powerheads the heater etc. You can take it out for a day and redo everything and put it back in and shouldn’t have bacteria loss. If you are worried redo your aquascape and add some sort of bacteria like Seachem Stability, or Fritz Turbostart 900.

^^ This will work. You could also do half of it now and then do the other half in a month or so.

Are you concerned about the sand because technically you are supposed to put the rock in before the sand so it sits on the bottom glass? Since you have a watchman, I assumed you might concerned with the rock shifting and injuring the fish?

I think the Evo is small enough to where you could get away with kind of wiggling the rock back down to the bottom if need be. I just move some of the sand off to the side and then rotated the rock back and forth working its way back down. I mean how much rock are we talking here?

When I rescaped mine I simply pulled the rock out, put it in a bucket, and put it back in the tank how I wanted. Lost a torch due to stress/ammonia but everything else was fine.

I was thinking like another main rock so probably 2-5 more lbs of rock.
