Aquascaped Refugium?

sooo I’ve been thinking about making an aquascaped Refugium with several varieties of macros and live rock and mangroves.. aquascaping it like a planted tank and putting a couple Banggai cardinals in with it. So it will filter water for main tank and the main tank will dirty the water so they will need eachother to survive thoughts ?

This has been done before. It's not done often but for no other reason I can think of than people not wanting to bother with it. There's no real downside to it, good luck

Goood thing I took out my skimmer and glass now I have about 32 inches of my 36in long sump to play with

I know it does but does the ph jump that bad could I put an air stone at night for the oxygen and keep light off?

Not too sure myself really, never really researched it since I personally never had a reason to run a refugium during the day

Fwiw coastal ph ranges can fluctuate as much as one unit during the course of the day. Studies on Arthrocardia corymbosa growth have indicated that a higher mean ph is more important to growth than removing all variation. Imo would aim for an overall raised ph not a stable number.

Ie dont shoot for 8.2 all day long but an average of ph over the day of ~8.2.
