I'm planning a BTA tank, and I'm wondering what the best way to aquascape it would be. I've kept maxi mini, rock flower and BTA before, but in a mixed reef, not a dedicated tank, and would like to get the design just right so they can really flourish.

I love the vibe of this tank:

But I'm thinking of something more like this for the scape:

Anemones aren't picky at all. While corals need shelves to sit on nems will just grab on anywhere. The only time aquascaping will matter is if your light is too dim and you need a tall structure to get them close to the light

Good point! I guess it will have more to do with how the aquascape relates to light and flow...

i put my rock as a piller for more light but mine is at the bottom they kinda just choose to move where they like it most so it dosent really matter for the scape they aren’t picky

You could randomly dump in rock in anyway possible, place 3 small bta anywhere on them, and in 3 years these little pests will cover 80% of your rock. Sigh. Tell me how I know.

I try to find or arrange rocks such that there is a pocket or hole for the foot to settle. I think it helps the chances of the nem staying put. The other primary factors for where the nem settles being light and flow.

That's the idea ;Woot But I'd like it to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible when they do cover it, hence the aquascaping;)

Ah, good idea! Thanks:)

This was pretty easy to make, I thought about anemones, but the bottom of the rock, and directly under it wouldn't be conducive for any growth. I'm thinking a zoa garden on it instead.

If you do decide to make a nano floating scape like the picture you referenced above, perhaps a little lower, so anemones have enough space to stretch out.

Yes! That is a gorgeous tank. Think that may have been one of the first dedicated anemone tanks I saw that actually gave me the idea for this one.

Very nice and good notes about the practicality, thank you.
