Hi,

I’m new here

Just started a nano marine tank and I’m struggling with the scape,

I can’t seem to get it right I’ve attached some images of what I’ve made so far but can’t decide as I’m not sure they look any good,

I don’t want a tank full of rock as I want as much room for the fish swimming & trying to keep everything away from the sides of the tank so the water movement is good.

* The taller sculpture I’m not sure what to put next to it if this is the one I’m going for maybe a smaller island (not the one in the picture that’s just for reference size etc..)

Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated

Thanks in advance
*p.s go easy on me I’m not the most artistic person
:)

I actually like the first picture more, needs a bit more caves to fish to hide in tho. Example. My chromis and wrasse both sleep in there separate caves each night its cute watching them dart into their caves when the lights go out or when they get spooked.

Maybe move that small structure up a little more t create a sense of depth. Or buy some more rocks. But id focus on some more caves

Google reef tank aquascape. This should be a good reference point. I would think with a cube tank like you have, you would want taller structures/structures like you have. I like both. In my opinion, Aquascaping is one of the most enjoyable parts of starting a tank. Good luck!

I like the first pic better. But it depends on two things. What will be in the tank and what look do you want. It doesn't matter in the least what we like, we aren't living with your tank!

IMHO, if you will have mostly fish, then less rock. You want a lot of corals, then you need more rock to mount them on. I did a low rock mound starting about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way back from the front glass. The mound is very open underneath so anybody who needs to hide has a place. Hell, my flame scallop went inside and I have to use a flashlight and stoop down to the sand level to look inside and see if it's still OK!

Definitely the first one, looks very nice! would recommend leaving room in the back to ensure water flows and room for fish to swim around.
