Nice looking...... what about turning the cove on the right side so it looks more angled into the middle. Might open that space up a bit. Just my 2 cents... I have a 125 I aquascaped alot like this.

I shut my tank down for awhile, now i am ready to set back up. I usually went with alot of rock i have cut way back and feel that i have used this negative space in this aquascaping. Someone let me know what they think about it.

I think I did it pretty successfully. My goal wasn’t a bommie, but I wanted clean and still enough room and rock formations for my fish to swim and interact in a manner they still felt secure and could retreat to the rock. Still a never ending battle for me to keep frags off the sand haha. 93 gallon cube:

Nice setup! Love the lamp in the tank lol. I forget to turn it off all the time when taking photos. I went with minimal scape too. Not so much negative though. Once a tank is grown in the negative space is hard to see. My 120 today at 7 months. Lots of room to grow.

With minimal rock, what is everyone using for a place for bacteria to grow? Reactors?

Personally, I use Marine Pure block in the sump. Like 768 cubic inches of the stuff.

Speaking of Nanos, it's a bit of a challenge creating negative space in a small cube. I used to have a lot more of it before the many years of coral growth, as well as a few corals as presents, filled things up:

I’ve ended up removing more and more rock as time goes on. I think it looks better and the fish love it too! I bought this neglected tank that was being torn down so didn’t get to start from scratch but after about 2.5 months it’s getting better.

Amazing! I know it’s not an intensive “build” but does it have a thread? Love to know what you are running on it for filtration and lighting. Also how sweet it looks in the room

Thank you! Actually, the 'build' (simple as it was) and all major event's are chronicled for 11 - 1/2 years.

In brief, this little reef aquarium runs on the old 'KISS' principle. It does not use any man-made mechanical or chemical filtration (other than the occasional use of a filter sock on a cleaning day, if needed), so just live rock and sand. Nothing in the sump other than a heater, pump and thermometer. The DIY lighting array is still going strong after ~5 years. A pair of 'Pet-bottle' ATOs supplying a Kalkwasser/RO mixture finish it off...and that's it
