Aquascaping....

Hi R2R Friends, when aquascaping, do you line the bottom of your tanks with anything other than sand to keep the bottom from getting scratched? Inquiring mind wants to know. I would love to see some of your creations too!

I would recommend putting a light "base" layer of sand, aquascaping, then securing everything in place with the rest of your sand depth.

I did not put anything under my rockscape. Used some flat ones on bottom and worked up from there.

I lined the bottom of the tank with eggcrate because I knew I wanted engineer gobies. They can move an insane amount of sand which can undermine the stability of the scape. If I had it to do again, I would just use the eggcrate where the rock is placed.
