Aquatic Connection

I have not ordered from them myself, but they seem to have earned terrible reviews on many forums. I'd be very cautious about them.

On the other hand, LiveAquaria is a great place to order fish or corals. I've piggy-backed on other people's orders and have been very happy with what I've got :)

I agree on LiveAquaria. Never got a fish that did not appear healthy. Immediate credit for DOAs with a phone call. I think they offer a 14 day guarantee but I never try to take advantage of that. If it is live in the bag it's mine. Only rarely do I find a dead fish anyway, they just "go missing". I suspect most of my casualities are the result of aggression anyway and should not be blamed on the vendor.
 
I was just reading on another site and someone posted about a company called aquacon.com. Many people said they received dead or dying livestock. Out of curiosity I visited that site and had to lol when it was aquatic connnection.
 
I have to agree with Tomoko and H@rry. I have had great luck with LiveAquaria and Vivid, both. Even with fish from Vivid.
 
Pet Solutions has been good for me. They have the same guarantee as Live Aquaria and sometimes way better prices. Customer service is top notch and easy to get a hold of.
 
Here's my experience with Aquatic Connection. I placed an order with them on 1/20/2014. My credit card was charged and I got an email from them stating that due to the weather my shipment wouldn't be shipped until the weather was better here and in between. I figured as much so I was ok with that. We have had nice weather for the last 4 or 5 days and I didn't hear anything so I called them. Very nice lady answered the phone and told me they had bought the website business. They still have the same pictures and web site but it's now called Quality Marine Life. Told me I should have the charges on my bank or credit card reversed. I'm not getting my shipment. Credit card said 7 to 10 days to investigate. Then they will let me know how much my refund will be. Here I sit. I could kick myself. I went back and forth between them and LiveAquaria for days trying to decide which one to order from. Guess what? I made the wrong decision! :squigglemouth:
 
Do not buy from Aquatic Connection (aquacon.com)

I placed an order for $168.51 in livestock just before Christmas. I never got my order. When I called a man said that the owner of Aquatic Connection had passed away unexpectedly, that the family couldn't keep up with the business, and that Quality Marine Life had bought the website. He also told me that my request for a refund had been entered into the system the day before, and that I should see it on my credit card within 7 to 10 business days. That was twelve business days ago, and I still have no refund. On top of that, the phone number listed on the website is now disconnected and my emails go unanswered. I am challenging the charge with my credit card company tomorrow.

That man also told me that Quality Marine was not handling the refunds, and that the original business was doing that. From this information and my experience I guess that Quality Marine bought the aquacon website, but not the business. The original business has probably closed, possibly leaving customers like me out of money with nothing to show for it.

I also guess that Quality Marine knew that this would be the case, but calculated that a relatively small number of customers would be affected this way. Quality Marine told me that I would get a refund and told me to wait long enough for the business to close and the phone number to be disconnected. I say don't buy from aquacon.com or from Quality Marine.
 
I'm sorry to hear the owner passed away unexpectedly. When did Quality Marine buy it? I was told today they have the exact same livestock as Aquatic Connection. I placed my order a month ago today. What am I going to do?
 
Aquatic Connection & Quality Marine

As far as I can tell, Quality Marine purchased the Aquacon website--NOT the Aquatic Connection business--probably sometime in January. My understanding is that Aquatic Connection bought their livestock from Quality Marine, which would explain why they have the same livestock.

I would do everything I could to get in touch with them as soon as possible. If that doesn't work, I would dispute any charges to your credit card by Aquatic Connection right away. I just filed my dispute with my credit card company today.
