What’s the most cost effective way to dim the Aquatic Life T5 hybrid? I know it can be done with a controller like the Apex, but I don’t really want to spend that much just to dim the lights.

A hydros wave engine might be a cheaper alternative to a full controller that could offer you some other nice perks? Still not very cheap at $300.

Are you wanting to dim because of too much light? You can always raise up the fixture. If it’s for sunrise or sunset you should be using the LED’s for that.

Outside of a controller maybe you can DIY a dimmer

So, ramp up and ramp down with the LED (Kessil a360x) and have the T5’s turn on during the middle part of the day?

I’ve never had T5’s before…is it possible to only use two or three bulbs instead of all 4?

The fixture can turn the front two and back two on and off independently, can’t they? I don’t own the dimmable version.

Personally, if you wanted to only use two or three bulbs I would just remove a bulb or two so it’s displaced evenly across the front and back.

If you avoid using the actual dimming controller your bulbs will also last longer.
