Hi everyone,
I have been a long-time lurker and this is my first post here!
I have been running a aquatic life 115 skimmer in a 30 gallon reef tank for about 8 months now with good results! Except for a mild surface sludge that appears every week between water changes. (roughly 15% volume every week)
My reef tank has no sump, as everything is internal in the tank.
I have been thinking about making a modification to this skimmer to improve efficiency but want your guy's opinion.
So here it is,
I would like to attach (glue) a "surface skimmer" to the intake portion of this style skimmer. I'm thinking of using PVC pipe, cut in half lengthwise, capped on the bottom and open on the top. My hopes are that with the right height in comparison to water level, that this will allow the skimmer to intake water from the surface skimmer attachment, without interfering with the output flow side of the skimmer.
Any thoughts?
