I bought a used AquaTop 24g AIO cube. In the overflow chamber, it came with some kind of black foam filter (see picture). Seems like over time, it's just going to trap detritus. Do you recommend leaving that in there? Put something else there?

Evening

Never ran an Aquatop. I can speak in general. Usually the sponge does trap detris, but it is supposed to. It keeps it from settling in the back chamber as well as damaging equipment equipment. It also makes a nice pod hotel and keeps fish and inverts out as well. Help to reduce water fall noise depending on the set up
