Aquaview overflow sound

There's always been this slurpy sound every 5 seconds or so since I set this aquarium up. I've tried different speeds for pump and also removing the original sponges and using different sizes.

It has been quiet once for weeks until I cleaned the sponge in water. After putting it back, it's continued to be noisy
How can I quiet the drain ?

To control the flow it's just a controller that came with the pump. There's a chain of plastic ball things that go into the drain and then one course sponge and one finer sponge. Ideally I would just remove the sponges, but theres a distinctive draining sound if I do. With the sponges it becomes a slurping sound, if any at all

This drains into a sump correct? Do you have a valve controlling the drain flow?

Yes into the sump, no not for the drain flow, it didn't come with one at least , just the sponges

That’s your problem. You need to put a gate valve on so you can control the drain flow

Did you fix this problem? I’m about to set up my aquaview 65. Do you have any advice for what I should do with the plumbing to make it not so loud? I also have a question for what return pump you are using, I was going to set up mine to the stock tubing that came with the aquarium which is the smaller one as you know and it won’t fit on the barbs that came with my pump. Did you have the same issue?

Im Using jebao dcp 5000 on 50% power, it came with numerous attachments and I didn't have much problem attaching the tubes. There were small leaks dripping into the sump but I fixed it with rubbery pkumbing tape, magic tape? I forgot the brand I used.

As for the plumbing sound, I built what I think is called a stockman pipe. There was a youtube video on how its made and works. It's the simplest and fastest way imo. I glued little airline tubes to keep it raised on the inside of the cap. Zero sound

Awesome I’ll order that pump then, I got the coral box dca4000 and it wouldn’t fit the small tube that comes with the system. Pain in the but since I couldn’t find an attachment peice from the hardware store.

What does your sump look like? Do you mind taking a few pics of your set up? I plan on running the filter sock, fuge with marinepure block, skimmer, and chemi pure blue. I was thinking of putting my heater in the overflow box, where do you have yours?

So I bought the dcp-5000 and the smallest peice it came with was the same size as the tubing, did yours come with a smaller one or did you manipulate it so the peice fit into the tube?

I could melt the plastic to maybe get over the barb?

The tube goes into the piece just as you have. I see teflon plumbing tape at the end of the tube before pushing it in, to tighten the connection. That magic tape will work as well. Yeah you should be able to keep your heater there, personally don't use one myself, the room my tank is in is never cold, nor near any window.

Ok thanks! I’m going to try and force it in then but it’s going to expand the tube since they are the same size, hopefully it doesn’t rip.

I’m finding it impossible to get that barb into the tube, I’ve tried soaking it in boiling water to soften It up but still it cools down to quickly for me to get the barb in, did you have to do something special to get it in?

Mine had the same noises.
That noise (every few seconds) becomes because the pump's performance is too high. So reduce the speed and the level should remain the same (there will be a kind of gurgling sound, but it sounds constantly, not every few seconds). Then put the sponge back.

What I did to silent my Aquaview: at first I removed the sponge and balls from drain pipe. Then bought 32mm pipe (original is 40mm, but the hole is no more than 1 inch) and fittings for that, also ball valve (not very accurate way, but it works somehow and moreover I can change the speed of pump), and also Maggie Muffler silencer, now it's quiet.

I faced an issue with my Maggie Muffler that's something like Stockman I guess, at least it looks (technically) like your white cap on the drain pipe.
I also use ball valve for initial flow setup, then I use controller of my DC pump.
The issue I've encountered with Jebao DCP 2500: when I run it on ~ 40-50% initially it work good enough and "the bell" of the Maggie Muffler is about 1/6 inches deeper the surface than usual, it's almost silent, nice!
But after 1-2 hours the performance of the pump is slightly decreasing so there are bubbles in my sump and noise of course.
AFAIK these pumps are affected to such behaviour as I understood reading this forum. Does your Jebao pump also decrease its performance in a short time after turn on?
How could I fix such issue, just replace the pump?
I also replaced original 40mm pipe to 32mm in order to reduce the flow, anyway 32mm is enough for about 1000 gph, I need only 200gph. Could it cause the issue?

I did a kind of prototype of this silencer using a skimmer part, had no PVC caps. The overflow itself became more quiet, but bubbles are still in the pipe and they're too loud. Do you have bubbles in your case?
Another question: is the level in your tank stable - even if you restart the pump?

This is mine today. For the past two weeks I've only used the chain of balls. No sponges and dcp at 65 %. Reason was..using the stockman pipe/pvc cap, the surface dust on water wouldn't drain to sump, and noticed dust collection after a few days since it pulls water from right underneath surface. Anyways im not having any noise like this and want to see how long it will last before any noise.
No, the water level in tank lowers due to siphon creation from outlet. I usually press feed if needed, then break the siphon by raising outlet above water line for a second.
For feeding I avoid doing this all together and just pause other pumps ..gyre..wavemakers.
