I picked up a used Aqueon 150G dual overflow tall tank for my build. I’m currently amassing all the equipment for the build and hope to start in on it this summer.

I have a few questions/ideas and would like to get some feedback and thoughts. It is set up from the factory as Durso overflow. I’m thinking of making it Herbie style. So I’m wondering, could I convert them to Herbie style and run the returns over the top or possibly drill the back and run them through like that? Or go even further and use one of the weirs for the overflow set up and the other weir to run the returns through? Or leave it alone and run it the way it came and deal with trying to quiet it down?
Thanks.

I like the overflow design on aqueon
Easy to work with and would leave it

I have 210 aqueon and found it noisy initially, but became much quieter after a few weeks. I have seen a video where someone did run return from pump over top and used both holes in both weirs for full siphon setup. Was very quiet. My worry doing that would be balance of pump return gal/hr.and possibly flooding and overflow. You would be changing initial engineering design but I did consider this idea as well.my setup is fine so I let it be.

That’s a very valid point that it would be a drastic change from the initial engineering and could not have the best results. Thanks.
