Aqueon Hood converted into reef light

Hello,
A quick run down of this video. The man turned a standard aquarium freshwater hood into a reef light fixture by replacing the florescent standard bulbs with coralife 20w bulbs. I just wanted to know if this would work with some simple lowlight corals, like your beginner lps and softies?

Maybe softies but I'd much rather take the lid off and you can take your pic in led lighting to provide a better light source.
