Aqueon to a Euro-Braced??

I have an Aqueon 125 Gallon 60” x 18” x ? That someone is practically willing to give me. They want a little money for the stand. The Aqueon Cross Bracing was cut out, Aquarium was used for a Reptile. Also will this Aquarium clean up, they say it has a slight smell to it?

A retrofitted Eurobrace? I could see it working.....maybe?
usually the brace keeps the glass from bowing, I hate that dang light blocking brace and following to see what other say...

Went over and looked at it, was a total waste of my time. Huge chip out of the back glass. The overflow also cut out of it. It‘s not an Aqueon, and is 60 x 18” so it’s not 125 gallon. He wants 1.2k for the stand, and it is a cheap one, needing total refinishing. I could swear this Aquarium was on Craigslist, he said it wasn’t , but I remember a tank with a chip just like that.

I got a 210 Aqueon and hate it in comparison to the newer rimless tanks ...
1st the overflows not only take up precious aquascape room, but really complicates powerhead placement and flow
2nd those braces jack up light placement. the also block/shadow a decent percent of the light coming in
Personally moving forward I’ll pass on any like designs and just cop a rimless

For $1200 maybe look into SC Aquariums. They sell new 150 gal for $1000. I don’t have one, but looked at buying one previously.

That guy is smokin' dope. You could get a new Aqueon 125 for way under that.

For what it's worth, rimmed tanks with the braces make the tanks safer than rimless ones.

Ticks me off, that he talked it it up so much. Had to go over there while it was pouring down rain. Turns out it was the “Frankenstein,” setup. I don’t think the stand even matched the tank, and I can’t figure out who made a glass tank that size, with plastic braces. I agree a tank with a Plastic Rim brace is a safer tank, but the lights we use deteriorate the plastic. Also a Rimless Tank is so much nicer for the viewing, even after using the plastic clips down the side, for a Glass top. I’ve never had a Eurobraced tank.
