Archon Controller - Video Series

On the system page under power options is the Factory Reset. this will remove all programming and modules. when it reboots, it will pick all attached modules and then you can begin programming from Scratch.

That will definitely save me some time getting started (hopefully tomorrow). Thanks.

Find out what software version is on the unit and let us know before attempting to update it. If it is too far behind it may require Eric's help to get it updated. The way it updates has changed a couple of times.

The archon is said to be fully updated, but I will check. Is there a specific number I'm looking for?

I've got this thing fired up now, but I'm struggling. I can connect to the archon wifi, view the system/setup pages, etc., but I can't make any changes. I've tried several devices and browsers, but nothing sticks. Any ideas?

Power it down and pull the USB. Pop it into a Windows PC and it should ask to check for errors. Sounds like it's in read only. Can happen sometimes if not shut down right.

Some of the information will not display from the setup screens after being saved. It will go back to the default information. Be aware of that also.

I'm only trying to save my home network info so far, but the connection drops every time I hit update. I'm pretty sure the info isn't saving. I also checked the USB drive today, and it seems ok now.

That info will not display when saved. Check to see if it aquires a wireless IP on the setup screen.

If the network info is not saving then it is either the SSID having a special character in it or a different security protocol than you have selected

It shows a wireless IP, so I guess it took. I can also get in the archon.local site when connected to my home wifi with my iphone, but no luck with the laptop (which i'd much rather use).

I'm now using Firefox on both devices. Got the laptop working by using the IP address instead of archon.local.

Ok, how do I get email alerts set up? The setup page has a box for an address, but nothing has happened during several attempts with multiple addresses. The alarm page doesn't have anywhere to input email info like I've seen in videos.

You set up email in on the setup tab. Type in your email and click update. Then when you set up Alarms in the Alarm tab you have an option to send you an email if an alarm triggers.

I've tried to enter a couple of email addresses in the setup tab, but nothing has worked so far.

You setup alarms from the system page. The alarm page is just for viewing active alarms and the alarm log. Once you enter the email address or addresses you want the emails to go to. them click update then test to send a test email. If you get a test email then it is setup.

I've tried that several times, but nothing ever happens. When the screen refreshes, the email field reverts back to [email protected].

Also, if anyone is good at whole port forwarding process, hit me up please. I'm on AT&T DSL with an actiontec gt784wn modem/router.

Thanks everyone for the help.

The email field reverting is normal. I think it has to do with not displaying personal data if for some reason someone else is accessing your controller. So you setup an alarm and selected for it to send an email. Then you purposely tripped the Alarm to make it active. You got no email after doing this?
