are all led manufactures created equal

I have a guy telling me he can get LED at a whole sale pricefor my tank. I can’t remember the maker of the LEDs but he said if I give himthe kind of leds I need he can get them for me. These are not Cree lights I did ask that question. So I guess myquestion is, are all LED manufactures created equal. If they are not what is it I have to look outfor? What is it that makes other Led not as good as Crees?

They are not created equally, and without a full spectrum and brighness plot you really can't tell how they stack up to Cree's. Even different Cree's bin's have different spectrum and brightness depening on the bin for the "same" LED.

There are at least some (I am NOT one of them) who say Cree's shouldn't be the benchmark as they do not represent a proper spectrum for SPS.

So FWIW unless it is a super killer deal I'd say Buyer beware unless you can find out it is a good diode ahead of time.

cree's are hardly a benchmark for anything. even cree makes leds that wont grow corals.
no single company makes a benchmark. even with a killer deal i wouldnt unless you know. there is way too many cheap useless leds out there i would stick whats proven. that is unless you want to play guinea pig.
